The Washington State Division of Transportation has now shut all lanes of the westbound Interstate 90 bridge from Mercer Island to Seattle in hope of relieving some of the congestion skilled by tourists on both of those I-90 and Interstate 405.
WSDOT suggests the selection for the total closure was made “due to the intense targeted traffic disorders produced by the closure of the I-90 mainline on Mercer Island” on Friday.
As of Saturday afternoon, drivers coming from the Eastside and Mercer Island will have to have to use Interstate 405 or the point out Route 520 toll bridge if they need to have to vacation west of Lake Washington.
The West Mercer Way on-ramp to I-90, Bellevue Way Southeast direct-access ramp, southbound I-405 direct-entry ramp to I-90 and westbound I-90 substantial-occupancy motor vehicle lane at the I-405 interchange had been all shut by WSDOT crews on Saturday afternoon.
Signage on the bridge was also up to date to say “WB I-90 Bridge Closed” and/or “No Obtain to Seattle.”
The westbound I-90 bridge from Mercer Island to Seattle will keep on being open up for bicyclists, unexpected emergency autos and King County Metro vehicles.
WSDOT advises everyone heading to Seattle this weekend to allow extra travel time, specifically all those going to significant situations which include the Washington Huskies and Seattle Seahawks video games.
“Closures throughout substantial functions are not great but in this situation it simply cannot be avoided,” claimed WSDOT Venture Engineer Shawn Wendt previously this week.
Audio Transit is giving exclusive providers for the Seahawks game, including more routes amongst Lakewood or Everett to Lumen Area.
All through the closure, WSDOT contractor crews are changing a significant expansion joint that connects the Homer Hadley Bridge with the west facet of the island.
The bridge is expected to keep on being closed until 5 a.m. on Monday.
