ROCK SPRINGS — Sweetwater County School District (SCSD) No. 1 is reporting 22 new positive COVID-19 cases during the eighth week of school October 4-7. This is down one from the previous week.
SCSD No. 1 Superintendent Kelly McGovern sent out a message on the ParentSquare app and the district’s Facebook page this afternoon updating the community on the district’s COVID-19 numbers. The district is reporting 22 new positive cases with 64 students out on stay-at-home orders due to exposure from school or outside of school.
“The District strongly encourages parents, students and staff to take the precautions they deem necessary for personal protection, including, staying home when sick, hand washing, masks, and vaccinations. With our current COVID numbers in our area, parents please keep your kids home if they have symptoms,” according to the message.
“We realize that not everything is COVID, however 1 or more of these symptoms may suggest an infectious illness and the student should not attend school regardless of whether the illness is COVID-19. If your student is getting tested for COVID-19, please do not come to school until you’ve received the results,” the message stated.
