Peyton Manning, Pat McAfee have wildly unique responses to skipped PATs

Peyton Manning has had some choice words for kickers over the several years. He the moment famously called Indianapolis Colts teammate Mike Vanderjagt a “liquored up” fool.

Manning still left his seat in disgust Monday evening immediately after Dallas’ Brett Maher missed his 3rd straight PAT in a playoff video game versus Tampa Bay.

“Oh my God, you’ve got got to be kidding me,” Manning exclaimed. “Why are we kicking it?! Why are we kicking it?!”

He later pondered if a kicker can be reduce at halftime.

Here is Manning’s memorable estimate about Vanderjagt from 2003: “Below we are, I’m out at my 3rd Professional Bowl, I’m about to go in and throw a landing to Jerry Rice, we’re honoring the Hall of Fame, and we’re speaking about our fool kicker who got liquored up and ran his mouth off. … What has the athletics environment come to? We are conversing about fool kickers. He has ruined kickers for daily life. Sad issue is, he’s a superior kicker. He’s a fantastic kicker. But he’s an idiot.”

Maher skipped a fourth PAT early in the 3rd quarter. He designed 50-of-53 in the regular time.

Maher produced a PAT on his fifth test, early in the fourth quarter, drawing praise from Manning: “WHOOO!”

Meanwhile, former Colts punter Pat McAfee was in a more forgiving mood. He thinks, or at minimum hopes, Maher bounces back.

And just after the fourth miss out on.
